Trish & Mel provide meals to healthcare workers during COVID-19

Two of our department’s own – Melanie Jones and Patricia Devine – were feeling a bit frustrated trying to figure out ways to help with the challenges arising out of this pandemic. As they thought about the healthcare workers on the frontlines and local businesses trying to stay open, an idea sprang to life.

Inviting the entire department to participate, Devine and Jones began working with local hospitals to have meals delivered from local establishments. To date, they’ve had 105 meals delivered and have 150 scheduled for next week.

The staff of the UW Hospital Trauma Life Support Center wrote, “Cannot thank you enough for the food! It feels amazing to have the support of our community as we work tirelessly to prepare to care for anyone and everyone that comes through our doors in the coming weeks and months.”

Grateful to these two women for leading the effort to support local businesses and healthcare workers!
